LifeFitness4Me, providing the highest quality personal fitness services for the whole family, announced today that it has formed The San Diego Pregnant Fitness Group for expectant mothers who are interested in learning how to safely keep fit and healthy during their pregnancy. The group will meet twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, starting on July 8, 2010.

“Pregnant women are frequently unsure about appropriate exercise during pregnancy. They often need a little extra support and motivation, and they’re typically more comfortable working out the other mothers-to-be,” said Connie Marshall, owner of LifeFitness4Me. “This group, which provides a cost-effective alternative to personal training, offers a fun, safe environment for exercising, learning and socializing.”

Group members will learn pregnancy-specific exercise techniques and the modifications that should be made for each stage of their pregnancy. Each session will also include information and guidance regarding prenatal nutrition. Six sessions are just $60, and registration is available online at http://www.meetup.com/pregnant-fitness.

The benefits of exercising during pregnancy are well documented, and include increasing muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness to be better prepared for the physical challenges of labor and delivery. Fit pregnant women typically have shorter and less painful labor; 65% of those who exercise are natural painkillers.

Marshall empowers her clients to stay active, fit and healthy during their pregnancy, postpartum and beyond through personal training and specialized fitness classes. As a Certified Prenatal and Postnatal Exercise Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and mom, she has advanced skills and knowledge specific to pregnant and postnatal women that enable her to create dynamic exercise programs that are safe and effective.
