New Profit Centers For Your Health and Fitness Business
Just because you are a personal trainer or a health club owner doesn’t mean you can’t have multiple profit centers that aren’t your area of expertise.
Of course there is a scope of practice you should be following in your health and fitness business.
Let’s use nutrition classes as an example.

Most personal trainers are afraid to teach any nutrition classes or weight management courses because they believe it will violate their scope of practice.
Depending on what information you provide or how you teach it can absolutely violate your scope of practice.
If you had a Registered Dietitian teach it or develop the content there would be no issues.
General healthy eating guidelines, examples of eating plans, etc are perfectly fine to be taught by a fitness professional or personal trainer. You are not prescribing and plan or diagnosing their nutritional needs and then prescribing a solution.
You are simply providing them with proven sound nutritional information that they can read in any book or other resource.
What you are doing is compiling all the data from the thousands of book and condensing it into simple easy to follow weight management courses.
As long as you don’t start prescribing diet information and telling them specifically that they need to eat a certain way because their cholesterol is too high or their blood sugars are too high then you will be ok.
This type of profit center could add hundreds and potentially even thousands of dollars to your revenue each and every month.
For example teach one 4 week weight management course to a group of 10 individuals and you could charge $99 per person. There is $1,000 right there.
Let’s say it is really popular and you have 3 of these courses each and every month. Who couldn’t use an extra $3,000 a month for just 3 total classes a week or 12 classes in a month. You hourly rate for those classes is $250 set up like that.
As Research and Development Director for Prograde Nutrition I am also responsible for curriculum development that fitness professionals can implement into their business.
We have a free 12 week done for you weight management course that trainers can implement into their businesses to start earning extra monthly revenue.
You are more than welcome to design your own or work with a Registered Dietitian to create a program specific to your company. As long as you keep it simple and do not prescribe specific diets to individuals you will stay within your scope of practice.
