What Makes A Great Fitness Business?

performbetter What Makes A Great Fitness Business?

Perform Better Summits are hands-down the best fitness seminars in the business today.  Where else can you learn from such a wide variety of trainers, coaches and clinicians in order to take your skills to the next level?

What’s really fascinating about these events, though, is the broad spectrum of speakers Chris has at the events.

You have what I call the high-energy presenters – guys like BJ Gaddour and Todd Durkin can get you motivated to train, even if you’re just standing in a corner somewhere.

You also have guys and gals with a ridiculous amount of knowledge about specific topics.  Alwyn Cosgrove knows business.  Eric Cressey knows shoulders.  Dr. Stuart McGill knows backs.

While everyone is unique in their own right, it took me a little while to realize the common bond that all the presenters there have in common.

Passion.

We all have different backgrounds, different viewpoints, and different ways of coaching our clients and athletes.

But the common thread between all of us is passion.

When you’re passionate about something, time stands still.  Those 8, 10, and 12 hour days spent training clients seems to fly by.

The extra 1-2 hours you spend daily on continuing education no longer seem like work – because you know that you’re going to be rewarded handsomely for it over the long haul.

Hanging out with attendees at seminars isn’t something you’re forced to do – it’s something you genuinely enjoy doing.  You realize that if you can positively influence even one trainer or coach, your influence becomes viral.  Now that one person is going to be a better coach or trainer for their 10, 50, or 100 clients they work with every day.

That’s pretty powerful.

The key to becoming a top-flight trainer, coach, presenter, or just about anything else in life, is passion.

Are you passionate about what you do for a living?

Are you passionate about taking your skills to the next level?

Are you passionate about genuinely helping people?

If you answered to all those questions, it’s not a matter of if you’ll be a successful trainer or coach – but when.

All the best,

Mike

Whether you are just starting out a new fitness routine or if you are an experienced pro, one of the most important lessons is having quality gear. Like a tennis player with a faulty racquet or a baseball player with a bat that’s too heavy, the wrong gear is going to start you off on the wrong foot. For walkers or runners, the most important gear we can have is our shoes. But there are so many different styles and brands of shoes that it can be a bit overwhelming.

One of the brands I recommend the most is New Balance. New Balance provides a wide variety of walking and running shoes for many different levels of athlete. They also have some of the best fitting shoes, because so many of them come in variable widths and additional sizes.

For those just starting out as walkers, I recommend the New Balance 925 walking shoes. They are some of the softest and most stable shoes on the market – and have been a staple for walkers since they were introduced in 2003. These are some of the best beginner shoes, and the velcro model is particularly helpful for those walkers that have arthritis and can have a tough time with laces. The padding around the entire foot keeps the entire foot well cushioned, and the leather upper keeps you nice and dry as you’re power walking through those puddles in the neighborhood.

For experienced runners, the New Balance 991 running shoes may be more your style. These are running shoes with a mesh cloth upper that allows for excellent breathability as you are putting the miles on. While they don’t have quite as much cushioning around the outside as the foot as the 925s, the New Balance 991s have plenty of cushioning where it counts. They have a specially designed orthotic insole that provides support enough even for many that have previously had trouble with their plantar fascia.

Both the New Balance 925 and New Balance 991s come in multiple fits that provide for an individual fit for optimal performance.

These are just a couple examples of the types of shoes that New Balance has to offer. They have many more that suit everything from trail running to speed training and track shoes – all of which come with the comfort and support that the 925 and 991 demonstrate.

Ask the Dietitian: Nutrition Label – Overview

Ever since the Nutritional Labeling and Education Act of 1990 (NLEA) gave the FDA authority to mandate nutritional labeling of foods that it regulates, most of our packaged foods have a Nutritional Facts table on the side. This blog post will offer an overview of what it all means.

To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring – it was peace. ~Milan Kundera

Need help stat !!!

A week ago I noticed a HUGE ass purple bruise on one of my hammys. Over the past week I have noticed a few more bruises popping up all over my legs. This evening I got out of the shower and realized that I have about 30 bruises all over my legs and have no idea how they got there.

Any ideas? At first I thought that it was perhaps my iron levels dropping? Any other ideas?

Pct

Other than clomid nolva I read hgh also helps testes return to natural state and helps as a bridge, also would hcg be useful after a cycle, seems doses have to be extreme if not taken during cycle. Also read cabergoline helps increase and return sex drive. Need a good pct, dont want to lose gains obviously and want everything back in order. Even though sex drive and everything ok now Im sure that could change. For hcg I read 40iu ed times x amount of days on cycle. So basically what I read said if your on a cycle 20 weeks lets say dose should be 5600iu does that mean first week or what? Has anyone heard of this? Please if anyone can address all issues mentioned above I would be grateful.
